Choosing which microphone Mutter uses

Pick a specific input device, or follow the macOS system default.

By default Mutter records from your Mac’s system default input — whatever macOS is set to use. To pin a specific microphone:

• Open Settings → Microphone and choose your device from the list, or
• Use the quick microphone picker in the menu-bar dropdown (click the Mutter M icon).

“System Default” follows macOS; pick any connected device to lock Mutter to it. The choice takes effect on your next dictation, so you can switch mid-session. If a pinned mic is unplugged, Mutter quietly falls back to the system default so dictation never breaks.
