Is my audio really private?
In Private mode, yes. Transcription runs entirely on your Mac with an open-source model and nothing is uploaded. Cloud mode sends a single utterance to our transcription provider over an encrypted connection and is never stored.
Do I need an account to dictate?
Yes, an account is your license. But you can start free: a new account gets 200 on-device words a month at no cost, and your audio always stays on your Mac. Upgrade anytime for unlimited dictation plus Cloud and Intent Mode.
Does it work on Intel Macs?
Yes. Cloud mode runs on any Mac, Intel included. The fully on-device Private mode requires Apple Silicon.
What is Intent Mode?
Hold the Compose hotkey and speak a rough thought; Mutter detects what you were creating (an email, a prompt, a Slack message, a memo, a task list) and drafts the finished thing for review. Only transcript text is sent, never audio.
Is Mutter just voice-to-text or speech-to-text?
